I feel one of the obligations as a parent is to introduce our kids to the music of our parents. The same music we grew up with.
For me it was the soul classics of Marvin Gaye, Al Greene, Aretha, Smokey Robinson, Temptations and many more.
Tonight is one of those times as I sit here on the couch with baby girl listening to Pandora’s Classic Soul channel and just doing nothing but listening.
I find myself on the verge of saying something “Old Head” like “This is when music was music!” wondering if she just thinks I’m just being annoying. But then I catch her head grooving just a little as Bill Whithers lays down some “Ain’t no Sunshine.”.
I smile to myself as I know, even if she doesn’t that she felt the hook. And that’s why I’m easy like Sunday morning! (Commodores).
