The Benefits of "eSocial Networking Cards"
I have started merging all of my on-line presence points into a new service called Flavors.me . The reason why is simple. I was working on my Google Profile and realized that I had a link that needed added. At the same time I realized that on all of my social sites, I had to update that same link with the new URL. Do you really know how long that took me to log into every site and modify the URL in my profile? Lets just say it took longer than I would have liked.
Shortly after that I was floating through my daily Google Reader feed and ran across Flavors.me. I didn't think much of it however, and thought it was just too simple of a concept to grasp. I went away and then it hit me. This is a simple single point of aggregation of all of my on-line networks, blogs and feeds. These were the different... wait for it... flavors of me! Brilliant in its simplicity actually. I began to play.
The ability to customize the look to be what you want is so simple, almost anyone can do it and it is all free. Of course I signed up for the paid service just to add in the "Contact Me" feature where I added the ability to send me a message or list out my Google Voice number. Also with the paid version you get the ability to link a custom Domain Name to your 'flavor.' The bottom line with this service is that it is now the only location I need to maintain a list of my on-line presence locations!
There was only thing left to do at that point, which was to make a final round to all of my sites & services and add one single link that would remain static and give everyone what/where they would need to connect with me: http://flavors.me/simplyRik
