What Sitcom Would Represent your Life?

The cast of the IT Crowd show sitting on a couch together

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I work in the general area of IT management and support.  More in the management and strategy side now.  However, I started my career sitting in the middle of my users as a member of the IT Support team.

Without giving too much away, it was an environment full of A-type personalities operating in a very high stress environment.  Translated, there were times of peace and times of war.  When the tech worked, all was good in the world.  When it didn’t, it was not.

I had some of the best times and memories working in this environment.  For the most part, as they say, pressure makes diamonds.  To this day, some of the best people I have worked with, and for back then are still friends today. I wouldn’t have wanted to start my career in Technology any other way.

Now, decades later. I reminisce on those times and often smile or laugh at the shenanigans that occurred.  Then I stumbled across a British situation comedy called “The IT Crowd” and those moment all came flooding back.

Regardless if you have had any IT Support exposure in your life. Whether you are an IT Support tech or a customer you will find this show hilarious.  This show focused on life behind the scenes in IT Support. By no means is it glamorous.  But it can be very comical.

My idea

Similar to the U.S. reboot of the original British version of the Office, I have always hoped that someone would create a U.S. version of this show.  So much so, that I started writing a script for a program I call “Thank you for calling.” I should really get back to that idea.  Maybe I’ll post it here.  Would anyone be interested in a show like this?

I’ll end this with an IT Pro-Tip straight from Roy. When you are having problems with your technology ask yourself one question. “Have you turned it off and on again?”
