Meiji-Jingumae Temple

Meiji-Jingumae (明治神宮前) is a tranquil space mere footsteps from the manic Takeshita Dori in Harajuku is a must see for travelers wishing to experience a peace after a day on trains, in crowds and everything else that goes with life in Tokyo.

Built in 1915 after Emperor Meiji’s death in 1912, the history on this site is definitely reflected in the grounds and facilities embedded into the nature that has been delicately preserved. This was evident in all of the tourists and Japanese people who were visiting the shrine on the day I was there.  The most impressive thing about the Shrine is that it is not a tourist location.  It is an active temple in every way.

On any given day you may stumble across a traditional wedding or ceremony taking place with men and women in traditional kimonos or the average citizen paying their respects through prayer. I spent about 2 hours just walking the grounds and putting the DJI Osmo Mobile 3 and Moment Anamorphic Lens to the test shooting video.  Included in this post are some of the photos I took as well as a video I put together of the visit.
