TeamLab Borderless is a wonderful immersive art experience with light, should you find yourself in Tokyo completely overwhelmed with options of what to do. The idea is somewhat simple in theory, claiming “world of artworks without boundaries.” The intent is to immerse one in a pathway through various light exhibits that are in full motion. Accompanied by various sounds and music, you wander from one space to another, no clear direction or guide. I suppose if you want to relate the experience to something a bit more familiar to the rest of the world, just imagine navigating Ikea, in the dark with nothing but light art and music surrounding you at every turn.
You really have to go into this like water, just going where your mind and body take you. Not relying on some type of map or navigation to guide you where you want to go. Literally, the best way to experience, is to go with the flow and be prepared to be amazed by the lights and sounds.
