Meiji-Jingumae (明治神宮前) is a peaceful oasis just a stone’s throw away from the bustling Takeshita Dori in Harajuku. It’s a must-visit for travelers seeking a respite from the chaos of Tokyo life, after a day of trains, crowds, and all the excitement.

Built in 1915 after Emperor Meiji’s passing in 1912, the shrine’s history is palpable in its grounds and facilities, which have been meticulously preserved. It was evident on the day I visited, with tourists and locals alike paying their respects.
What makes Meiji-Jingumae truly special is that it’s not just a tourist attraction. It’s an active temple, where you can witness traditional weddings and ceremonies, with men and women dressed in traditional kimonos, or see the average citizen paying their respects through prayer.

I spent about two hours exploring the grounds, testing out my DJI Osmo Mobile 3 and Moment Anamorphic Lens, and capturing some amazing photos and videos. I’ve included a few of my photos and a video of my visit in this post.
